A note to families and friends...
The focus of this program is instruction on the basic techniques of ball control, dribbling and kicking using fun little games the kids can play, and having fun by playing small sided games, allowing for lots of touches on the ball.

Each session will begin with a period of instruction followed by the team being split up into 2 smaller teams where they play a small sided game vs their opponents on an adjacent field. Again, the focus of this game is to keep the ball moving, allowing the children lots of touches on the ball and the opportunity to run around and have lots of fun.
The U8 level incorporates some of the aspects of the "real game" in that there are goalkeepers, throw ins, corner kicks and goal kicks. There are no referees, however and there is no focus on positional play, penalty kicks, offside or many other aspects of the "real game." That will come later in U9 travel or U10 MURSL.
Please see the US Youth Soccer Small Sided Games Initiative linked to below for more information regarding small sided games.
